Folds of Honor is a scholarship program that was started to provide educational support to children or spouses of fallen or disabled service members. Last year College City Beverage partnered with many of their accounts to raise money for this great organization and then matched that donation. We want to highlight the account that raised the most money, Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752. We also want to say thank you to everyone who helped us raise money this year!

How did you get started with the Folds of Honor program?

Amber, our representative from College City

What does the Folds of Honor program mean to you / why is it so important?

Because we are a VFW, we offer so much support to our vets and community locally. We understand the PTSD issue with most of our Vets. We know how it affects families. Suicide is a large part of that issue. When we learned about what the Folds Of Honor does for Minnesota families after their lives have been turned upside down, we were incredibly honored to take part in it. Once we educated our customers and staff, the money just started pouring in.

Tell us about your participation in the Folds of Honor program this year:

We held a Golf tournament which my husband organized. He typically donates the money to another charity; however, he saw how passionate I was about this program and decided to give the funds to Folds of Honor. This golf tourney will now take place every year. We had several raffles of items we raffled off. Coolers, Neon Signs, Tickets to concerts, etc… The big one was we raffled off a “First Beer On Us” every time you come in for the rest of the year, including Tacos every Tuesday. I don’t want to give away all our secrets, lol. We also had members just write us a check.

Why is CCB a great company to partner with for Folds of Honor?

College City is fantastic to be involved with. I am fortunate to be working with Amber and Kristy. Their motivation alone is inspiring. They pushed me every week to do more. The organization is just filled with motivated people like that.

What are your goals for next year to make Fold of Honor just as successful, if not more?

Our goal is a secret, But I tell you what, we are already halfway there with donations. We like the competition. And we love to win!!
