If you enjoy the finer things in life, including different styles of craft beer, you’re going to want to update your glassware collection. Different beer glasses are designed to preserve the bold flavors and powerful aromas of your favorite craft-style brews, allowing you to enjoy your beverage’s character to its fullest extent. We’ll go over a few essential beer glasses you might need for your collection with Part 2 of our Beer Glassware 101, starting with the Belgian glass.
Belgian, Tulip, and Goblet Beer Glasses – These stemmed glasses capture and enhance the distinct flavors and aromas of your beer. The glass, which flares outwards from its bulbous body, helps retain a large head. These pieces of glassware can hold 16-20 ounces of almost any brew, making it a very versatile beer glass. If you have a strong beer with powerful flavors – like a Saison or IPA – you’ll most likely want to use a Belgian/Tulip beer glass.

Mug and Stein Beer Glasses – Mug and stein beer glasses are designed to be large and sturdy, holding a large amount of beer. German steins, or the more traditional glasses, are made out of stoneware instead of glass and generally display ornamental decorations. The handles and thick design are what sets these beer glasses apart, making them harder to break should you want to clink them together for a hearty cheer. Mugs and steins can hold a variety of beer, including American Ales, English Ales, Märzen/Oktoberfest, and Stouts.
