Account Feature: CreeksBend Golf Course on Folds of Honor
Folds of Honor is a scholarship program that was started to provide educational support to children or spouses of fallen or disabled service members. Last year College City Beverage partnered with many of their accounts to raise money for this great organization and then matched that donation. You may remember the account that raised the most was CreeksBend Golf Course, and this year they are ready prepared to surpass that! You can read about their last year efforts here. We sat down with Bryan Connelly, General Manager/Director of Golf, to recap last year and learn more about their efforts this year.
How did you get started with the Folds of Honor program?
College City Beverage is who got us involved last year. Going into last year, we weren’t really sure what to expect. We attended the national Folds of Honor event and were blown away. Only 5,000 or so people are invited to this event and it is all people who are apart of Folds of Honor. After being there and hearing the stories and meeting the military families who have experienced loss it gives you so much more reason to want to do more. It was absolutely incredible and moving.
One of the generals we met lost over 2,000 soldiers on his watch. He wears a bracelet on his wrist that tells how many soldiers were lost, injured, or who never came home under his command. After experiencing this, we want to exceed last year for all of them and do more!
What does the Folds of Honor program mean to you / why is it so important?
Last year was our first year being a part of this program. Here at CreeksBend military means a lot to us. We have a lot of members that either are or were a part of the military. I would say about 30 or so of our 100 members – that is huge! We are honored to be able to contribute in anyway possible to Folds of Honor and our military.
In addition to our member connection to the military here at CreeksBend, after being a part of the national event and meeting the military families and witnessing that – we are honored to once again be doing our part to raise money for the Folds of Honor program.
Tell us about your participation in the Folds of Honor program this year:
We have expanded the ways we are raising money. On June 14th, we will be hosting a Folds of Honor Golf Tournament with 100% of the proceeds going to Folds of Honor to help spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. You can sign up for that tournament using this form.
We will be auctioning off several different items, some donated by our fellow Folds of Honor partners and contributors Puma and Volition and College City Beverage themselves. How does beer for a year sound? That is one of the things we are giving away to raise money. Other items include golf clubs, cooler packs, swag, and so much more!
Why is CCB a great company to partner with for Folds of Honor?
We couldn’t do this without CCB. Their expertise and capabilities to help us fundraise are huge, the commitment on their side allows us to be successful on our side. We’ve worked together for a long time and our partnership wouldn’t be successful without their support and outreach which helps drive a lot more to efforts like these.
It all started with our relationship with CCB. We are excited that CCB has entered a team in the Folds of Honor tournament as well! This will be a future and annual venture for us every year, and we hope to continue to be the place that raises the most money for this great cause.
If people want to donate or contribute to Folds of Honor through you, how should they do so?
Come and golf in the tournament!
On Saturday’s we do a special event – golfers can bet money on Par 3 and if they hit the green they can double their bet to win a Pro Shop certificate. All of the money they bet goes to Folds of Honor.
You raised the most last year, what is your goal this year?
Last year was just the beginning. We raised $4,500 and this year we are looking to double, or better yet, triple that! The best way to be a part of this great cause is to take part in our Folds of Honor Golf Tournament on June 14th. Open to all ages and all skill levels are welcome!
