We’re pretty pumped to watch the Patriots face off against the Seahawks in this year’s Super Bowl XLIX! With only a week left before the big game, we wanted to give you a few tips on how to throw an amazing Super Bowl party. Are you planning on hosting a Super Bowl party at your home? Comment below!
Atmosphere – Super Bowl parties don’t call for a lot of preparation or decoration in order to create a great atmosphere. In fact, you should focus most of your time (and money) on preparing AWESOME food and beverages for your guests, since they’re more likely to focus on the game anyways. Also, try to use as many disposable plates, utensils, and cups as possible. Having disposable dining sets will help you clean up faster when the game is over. Worried about the environment? Look for biodegradable plates and cups in the supermarket.
Guests – The number of guests you invite will depend on the amount of space and seating you have. If you don’t want to watch the game in a crowded room standing up, consider inviting a smaller amount of people over to your home. Also, you should determine if you don’t mind having people talk during the game. If you want to concentrate on watching the game, consider just inviting your close football friends instead of a large group of people, including non-football fans. Don’t forget to have your guests plan a safe ride home – whether that’s with a designated driver or taking a cab.
Refreshments – Don’t expect to be moving much from the couch. Have all of your beverages close to your party, even in the same room. Try setting up a couple of coolers against the wall or throw together a few ice buckets full of beverages. The last thing you want is to miss an important part of the game because you got up to get another drink. Lastly, don’t forget to provide non-alcoholic beverages for younger guests and designated drivers.
Food – Your guests won’t expect much more than appetizers for your Super Bowl party, so don’t focus on making a four course meal. If you want to serve something more substantial, consider throwing a few pizzas in the oven. You can’t go wrong with a nacho platter either. Much like the beverages, you’re going to want all of the food in one room. In other words, you should be able to view the game while you’re loading up your plate with pretzel bites and little smokies. Want to mix it up a little bit? Post-game Clean Up – Have your post-game clean up supplies ready to go before people arrive. You never know when someone will accidentally spill or drop their food during the game. Keep cleaning supplies in the same room, so you don’t have to run around the house looking for carpet spray. Have your trash bags ready to go and in plain sight. People will be more inclined to throw their paper dishes in a trashcan vs. leaving them to sit on your coffee table. Have a recycling trashcan available for cans and bottles. When the game’s over, you’ll have an easier time cleaning up the mess.
