Meet Jason Scherer

After ten years at a job, you might think Jason Scherer would grow comfortable and slow down a bit. To the contrary, Scherer is involved and engaged with College City Beverage in just about every way he can be.
Officially, Scherer’s title is On-Premise Manager. To complicate things a bit, he has a secondary title of Key Account Manager. Within this role, Scherer is in charge of chain accounts, such as Applebee’s and Cowboy Jacks. He works directly with Anheuser-Busch to determine goals and strategies for these accounts, then ensures the game plan is properly executed.
Jason SchererWhen he’s not spending time communicating and coordinating beer and promotions between Anheuser-Busch and these large accounts, Scherer works directly with a team of sales representatives to help make them successful at their jobs. “To me, that means giving them proper and timely information, coaching them, helping them through tough situations, and giving praise when it’s due,” explains Scherer.
He describes himself as more of a coach than a manager, a management style that stems from lessons learned both personally and from his own past managers. Scherer says of his management style, “I truly believe that I need to help my team with anything that’s going on to help them with their jobs, even if it’s something like daycare.”
Sound like Scherer is already quite involved in the quality of College City Beverage’s work? Believe it or not, there’s more.
In terms of management, Scherer works with Brittany, the on-premise Brand Activation Manager to accomplish goals set by Anheuser-Busch.
Scherer also does internal work, including managing safety in the sales department, which involves addressing safety issues and leading quarterly meetings on ensuring employees’ safety.
His interest in the team’s well-being extends into Scherer’s role on the wellness committee, an initiative at CCB to help employees lead a healthy lifestyle. In this role, Scherer sets core health criteria and helps plan monthly activities, like 5K runs and volunteering.
When it comes to his extra work at College City Beverage, Scherer is particularly proud of his “Powerpoints With Personality.” Because nothing spices up a morning powerpoint presentation like surprise embarrassing photos of the team.
Why has Scherer chosen to celebrate ten work anniversaries with College City Beverage? “I love working for a family-run business. I stay here because I’m loyal to the Sawyers. They treat their employees very fairly. It’s hard to find a place like this.”
