CCB Now Offering Complimentary TIPS Training

As a bar or restaurant manager, your worst fears probably include serving alcohol to a minor, overserving a patron, and mice. While we can’t help with the latter, Jason Scherer and Tom Morrow are eager to help your team practice safe serving.

What is TIPS?

TIPS stands for Training for Intervention ProcedureS. It is a widely-recognized national tips-logotraining program that has been helping servers at on- and off-premise businesses prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving for 25 years. The goal of a TIPS training is to provide your team with the knowledge and confidence they need to recognize potential alcohol-related problems and to intervene. When your servers are TIPS trained, they’re less likely to overserve or accidentally serve an underage person. This means you’re preventing a host of legal problems, and it means you can see a lower insurance premium!

What does a training do?

Each training lasts about 5 hours and includes presentations by Jason and Tom, videos, and discussion. When you leave a TIPS training, you are prepared to:

  • Recognize signs of intoxication
  • Spot underage drinkers and prevent sales to minors
  • Intervene quickly and assuredly in potential problem situations
  • Understand the difference between people enjoying themselves and those getting into trouble with alcohol
  • Handle alcohol-related situations with greater confidence
  • Use proven strategies to prevent alcohol-related problems

What’s the point?

In addition to promoting safe and responsible alcohol consumption, TIPS also provides your business with great payback in terms of lower risk and a safer, more responsible work environment. You can benefit from:

  • Lower insurance premiums
  • Reduced exposure to alcohol liability lawsuits
  • Decreased penalties for alcohol violations
  • Safer communities
  • Improved customer service

College City Beverage’s TIPS training is complementary to the accounts we serve. All we ask is that you cover the minimal cost of training materials for your team. If you’re ready to stop taking chances while serving, contact Jason at jasonscherer@collegecitybeverage.com or Tom at tommorrow@collegecitybeverage.com.
